Harwell International – Victory
Wantage won by 2 wickets
Wantage improved again this week, after last weeks win against Uffington.
Superb performances from all kept the hosts down to 129-7 from 43 overs.
All the bowlers contributed with the ball, suported by brilliant fielding.
Steve gave an object lesson in what parts of the body could be and should be used to stop the ball.
Praise must also be given to ‘Mungo’ for the way he kept wicket.
Dave showed us how to stop the ball with a spectacular dive, but missed the ball completely, which has earned Dave the ‘Pigs Ear’
Other contenders for the ‘Pigs Ear’ were my dropped catch from Colin, my Hat-trick ball and James lapse of concentration.
The ‘Champagne Moment’ went to me for 3 wickets in 4 balls.
The full bowling figures ……………
Stuart 8-1-18-1
James 8-1-18-1
Dave 6-2- 8-0
Tim 7-2-17-1
Colin 6-0-13-1
Alan 4-0-22-0
Carl 4-0-22-3
After the cracking lunch, it didn’t take long for things to go horribly wrong chasing Harwell’s modest total.
Wantage lurched to 85-8 of 26 overs.
Swashbuckling knocks from Steve 22, Dave 14, and Alan’s 13 were underpinned by the ‘The Chief’s’ 6 from 42 balls.
This brought Colin 11no and James 44no together, who knocked the runs of in fine style and stopped me from having to bat.
James was awarded the Man of the Match for his fine knock of 44no and bowling performance.
Thanks to everyone who took part in the game and our hosts Harwell.
