Wantage won the toss and elected to bat.
OT and Circus stepped up to open the batting for Wantage and got off to a very good start with 16 runs off the first over, and subsequently 41 off 4 overs. Alas it wasn’t to last with OT being given LBW (I’ve lost count how many times this season I’ve been LBW – just too many). After the fall of the first wicket there was a top and middle order bating collapse with batsman 3, 4 and 5 all being dismissed within the space of 2 overs (the 8th and 9th). Lucky for Rich Lonnon who then stepped into the breach to rescue matters and put on 21 before OT had to give him LBW (a full length ball which caught him on the front foot). Quokkas went up with the biggest cheer of them all so far, clearly knowing that it was plum, but sadly OT wasn’t playing much attention as he was more focused on the bowler and his landing so close to the mark. So after about half an hour (no not really but it did seem an age) OT gave the finger and off Rich trotted. After the only significant contributions worth a mention were Mongo for his big 6 before being caught by an unbelievable catch (bet he could do it again) and Justin (aka Timmy). Wantage finished the innings on a disappointing 138 all out.

O Taylor LBW 8
B Martin Caught 44
G Summersbee Bowled 4
D Summersbee Caught 0
S Bramley Bowled 0
R Lonnon LBW 21
N Wilkins Bowled 3
J Wallbridge Bowled 8
M Tugwell Caught 22
T Lane Caught 15
O Haine NOT OUT 4

A big thank you to Rich and his wife (who I presume assisted with the tea prep) – very much enjoyed by all I feel.

After tea Wantage took to the field with Grant and Justin opening the bowling attack. Grant bowled with some sheer pace, weren’t trying to impress anyone where you? She left not long after!!! First change was Justin off for OT and he delivered with a wicket on the fourth ball of his first over – excellent tactical bowling change. Chief also took a wicket on his 5th ball of his first over (OT and Chief were level pegging after their 1st overs 1 for 1). OT then stepped up the attack and in his 2nd over took two consecutive wickets – so to the hat-trick ball and onto the field steps a lefty – bollocks! Anyway he just manages to get a bit of bat and pad on ball – OT denied 🙁  Things were looking up for Wantage as Quokkas were 55 for 4 off 16 overs. From there Wantage managed another 4 wickets but failed to prevent Quokkas from achieving the 139 to win. The bowling figures were as follows:

Overs Maidens Runs Wickets
G Summersbee 7 0 25 1
T Lane 6 1 15 0
O Taylor 6 0 24 3
O Haine 7 0 32 3
M Tugwell 4 1 15 1
B Martin 3 0 18 0
