Shrivenham II – Away – OCA League

After some rain during the week, we arrived at Shrivenham to find a decidedly green-looking wicket. As usual, Colin lost the toss and the Shrivenham skipper had no hesitation in inviting us to bat. This looked to be a good decision when we found ourselves 23 for 3 with Ryan and both Nick Burtons back in the shed. Stanton Harcourt – Away – OCA League

On a muggy day, Colin finally pulled his weight as Captain and won the toss. He chose to bat, where he undid all the good work of winning the toss by reversing the batting order as usual. Ryan, NiB, Barry, Ian and Steve all departed to leave Wantage struggling at 50-5, although Steve hit a couple of nice shots in his 22, and Barry was out to an excellent catch at backward point. 23rd May 2010, Crowmarsh (Derek Shorter Cup), Away – Win

Again, not much time for a big report this week. Sorry. After winning the toss again, Wantage elected to bat first and give Crowmarsh a total to chase. 157 for 7 didn’t seem to be enough on a fast outfield, but Steve Yates opened the bowling and initiated a victory by taking two wickets on his first two balls. Both were amazing and unplayable and changed the game, for this he won man of the match. Wantage took 30 overs to get Crowmarsh out for 123 and won the game with everyone making…continue reading →
