14th June 2009, Harwell International, Away – Lose
Only time for a short report this week. So here goes. We bowled first at Harwell in a controversially long 40 over game against Harwell. This was mostly so that we could listen to England beat India in the Twenty20 world cup. A great start saw both of Harwell’s openers, Steve Pritchard and Toby Gallington out for ducks after 9 balls thanks to some great bowling from Moobs and Peachy and a some lovely catches by ’Bows and Rich Lonnon. However that was it for wickets for a while as Harwell’s M.Davies showed us that he had a great eye and smacked the ball around all over the place. Peachy and Muppet got 2 more wickets and Harwell scored 241 for 4. Jake “Bear” Collings picked up pigs ear for an outstanding misfield and generally shuffling around after the ball.

Tea was delayed slightly by lack of milk, which arrived before the pot had gone cold, and then it was our turn to bat. 242 seemed a tricky, but achievable target. ’Bows and Chief opened with ’Bows looking on good form for his first game of the year. Chief, not on such good form lasted until the second over. I was bowled in the 9th over which brought Moobs to the centre. Moobs played some wonderful shots and hit 83 not out over the remaining 30 overs with 3 sixes and 8 fours. Raffles, Muppet and David Summersbee played a supporting role. In the end, we got 172 for 5 from our 40 overs, the slow start leaving too much for batsmen to achieve.

Moobs cleaned up the nice awards, Man of the Match for his batting and reasonably economical bowling and Champage moment for smacking a six off Steve Pritchard.
lol… outstanding misfield, was hardly memorable, what about the 4 no-ball-over 😮
